My First UK Money Snap has much more to offer than you would first expect. Your child will get the opportunity to:
- recognise each individual coin, including the £2 coin
- match the coin(s) with the numerical values
- total amounts
Despite money being an essential real-life skill, many children unfortunately do not get the opportunity to handle money or get sufficient practise in counting out amounts. This game will help your child overcome these problems.
If your child is young or lacking confidence with money, the game of 'Pairs' can be played where two cards are lifted. If they are worth the same value, the player keeps them if not, they are returned to the table. The winner is the person with the most matching pairs at the end of the game.
As your child becomes more confident with counting totals, play the original version of the Snap game. To ensure your child does take part in the game and carries out the required calculations, allow him/ her some time to work out the total. Recent research suggests that 6 seconds is an appropriate time but you will know what suits your child.
This is a really fun game that children enjoy playing, so long as you give them the chance to win!
