'My First Colour and Shape Snap' game contains 52 cards with a wide variety of shapes and shading. By playing My First Colour and Shape Snap, your child will become very familiar with the following mathematical shapes:

oval
circle
rectangle
pentagon
triangle
square
rhombus/'diamond'
as well as some other shapes such as stars, crosses and crescents.

The four basic shapes that your child needs to recognise and name are the square, circle, rectangle and triangle so this pack will really bring them alot further than expected and help them excel. As with any game, your child will learn much more easily when they are enjoying the activity.

Prior to playing the Snap version with My First Colour and Shape Snap cards, I would suggest that you teach your child to play the easier game of 'Pairs' where a player lifts two cards: if they are similar in colour or shape, the player keeps them if they are different, they are put back. The person with the most cards at the end is the winner. By playing this version of the Colour and Shape Snap, you will be using the game as a teaching/reinforcing activity.

When children are more confident, introduce the Snap version of the game which requires speed as well as shape and colour recognition.
