My First Number Snap has been especially created for young children to help them develop confidence with counting objects and recognising numerals.
By repeatedly using the very clear and colourful cards in the My First Number Snap Game with your child, he/she will become very confident with the following:
- recognising the numerals: zero to 10 inclusive
- recognising the number words: zero to ten inclusive
- counting pictures on each card: max of 10
There are 52 cards in the game and I would suggest that before playing the more competitive and faster paced game of 'Snap', you might consider the easier game of 'Pairs'. Your child will find this much easier as it is a simple matching game: Players take turns to lift two cards. If they are worth the same value, the player keeps them if not, they are returned. The winner is the person who gets the most matching pairs.
As your child gains confidence in counting and recognising the written words and symbols, play the game as Snap. Recent advice suggests giving your child 6 seconds to work out an answer but you will know what is right for your child to really increase his/her confidence.
